My bike Triumph

After writing my "You can think back" article, I started thinking back. Sometimes, memories are lost with time, and I am 50 years PreviousNext!.

The youth of the country at that time really only one chance to take the road, was the bicycle. Dad bought a car for his son never took place. Dad probably had a car anyway. In the street, and not all players have had the car for them. It was the day of the motorcycle and scooter riders.Where are the first bike was a milestone in my life. However, I had an old BSA motorcycle to start. He was old and not very demanding always count on the first kick. KICK Yes, the day of the electric starter was a long way and it never happened until my motorcycle years ago. We were riding on the car and kicked. Many times, a painful leg forces began to attack during the carburetor and spark plugs were cleaned and adjusted before the engine would burst intoLife. The genius of the engine was very easy, after all the time.

But when it came to her, we have entered a different world, we were mobile, 16 years ago, we were able to discover a new world. The places that had never been before, and the landscape we had just heard. We have been facing this danger. We screwed the throttle for each gear change with silencer that had not been silenced, and showed everyone how we were brilliant. Do not believe could reach 60 miles SSW hours soon!. But who cares,I had a bike, I was moving and I was able to show with the boys.

There were no rules or laws regarding helmets were few people, partly because of the risk as a WIMP. A flat cap rodent as they were called, was used to cover the head, and you could be with MkV111 (glasses luxury Marco. Several have used the gas mask or safety glasses that were issued during World War II. They were abundant.

But we have all experienced the same desire as manyToday we were faster, bigger and better machines. England was the choice of the world for some time. with BSA, Matchless, Vincent HRD air, Norton, Triumph and of course. (There was a lot more, but you know what it's like my memory!) In Japan was only on the margins of our world. It was only later that Kawasaki and Honda, Yamaha, etc. come to the front. It was also the era of Scooter, Lambretta and Vespa ahead.

But back to my triumph as it was at the meetingShowroom hand, on the other, but the showroom perfect condition. It was her mine. As a young auto mechanic won only € 3.00 per week, was the money out of my reach, it was a case of sell my soul, my father, and promising the earth, brought to him that my great deposit. The price was 150 £ 0.00 lucky for me (my father), but there was peeling and was soon Wheeling is outside the showroom. Now I could go where the old BSA could not. I had to learn to do everythingAgain and again, it was harder, faster and more flexible, so I took a couple of weeks to really become one with the machine. It would happen on the road, and is only 100 mph. the white line in the street was on my way. (They were painted at the time, while none of the peat thickness). I was able to walk from Stoke based in Salisbury (50 miles) in 30 minutes. It 'was amazing. But remember, there was no traffic to fight and then, with many miles were easy to cross. Highwaystherefore not have been built.

I needed to be sparks from my stool, or I had done the right angle, and had no one impressed. Days were fun, and looking back I realize that I was lucky enough to survive on this bike. Inevitably, they are so "good" and was king of the road when I started!. Now, implementation and daredevil stunts on horseback with a smile the other end is a big ego, but declining, and where they hide. I can tell you that you're within about 60 mph and more,I do not remember leaving the bike on the floor. After starting this fall was silly game, I think it actually made sense and thought for the first time I put in danger. It 'was so bad, I also thought about buying a helmet, but of course I could not miss him! Once all the risks on a motorcycle, you have the little bee in the bonnet, said the drop, before it is too late. What a sad day for me when I announcedit.

It 'been a sale reluctantly that the triumph was out of my drive and my life. But a chapter that was worth all the bruises. Michael Chalke.
